Impact100 Sydney’s
Grant Process
Impact100 Sydney operates an annual participatory grantmaking process where members (donors) collectively choose a charitable initiative to support via a $100,000 grant.
2026 grant round
In 2026, Impact100 Sydney is accepting applications from charities undertaking activities in Greater Sydney to support young people, aged 12–25 years, experiencing economic hardship. This is a critical life stage, spanning education, entry to employment, and transition to independence. Solutions are not prescribed—we welcome diverse and innovative approaches that address both immediate needs and underlying causes.

Strong proposals will centre young people’s voices, show cultural competence, and demonstrate potential for meaningful, measurable impact. Applicants should specify the age group(s) they are targeting within the 12–25 range and tailor their approach accordingly.

Our focus is on organisations that can demonstrate how a $100,000 grant will have a transformative impact on their organisation by enabling them to grow to the next level, meet an urgent and compelling need or advance their vision in a great leap.

The Grant Application Process
Impact100 Sydney is a giving circle, which provides members with opportunities to get involved in choosing the focus of our philanthropy and selecting the organisations who receive our grants.  Every year, many members participate in the grant assessment process, which is led by our Committee.

The Committee provides the grant assessment process and supporting systems and ensures that the grant applications are assessed objectively and rigorously, under the auspices of the Sydney Community Foundation. Our members believe in an equitable and inclusive Sydney.
Overview of the grant application process:
Eligible organisations submit an online Expression of Interest short application.
Our members assess the grant applications using a common set of selection criteria developed by our Committee. Up to 10 semi-finalists are selected.
Members and semi-finalists meet and chat at a face-to-face event, then semi-finalists take members on a virtual site visit and are asked to submit further information about their project.
Our members select up to six finalists to pitch at our live Grant Event. Members vote to select the major grant recipient(s). Residual funds raised are awarded as smaller grants to unsuccessful finalists.
Conditions of The Granting Process
  • All decisions about the awarding of grants are at the discretion of the Impact100 Sydney Committee and are subject to approval by the Sydney Community Foundation as Trustee;
  • Reasons for rejection of grant applications will not necessarily be given;
  • Successful grant recipients need to fully expend the funds within 12 to 24 months. Formal six-monthly progress reports will be required and details will be provided when the grant is awarded.
  • An organisation may submit only one application each year.
  • Impact100 Sydney reserves the right to change its grant assessment criteria without notice at any time.
2025 Grant Round
Our 2025 Grant Round has concluded with enthralling pitches presented by our 4 finalists, 4 Voices, Ageing with Grace, The Bower Reuse and Repair Centre Cooperative and Touched by Olivia Foundation. Congratulations to our major grant recipient in 2025, The Bower, who received $100,000 to support their work in sustainability and social impact, specifically for their "House to Home" program, which furnishes homes for individuals transitioning from domestic violence or refugee situations.
